Behind the Scenes: Installing the Powerhouse of Timnath’s New Network

Earlier this month, an integral piece of the Pulse network in Timnath was installed – the first fiber hut.

A fiber hut is like a switchboard or hub for the Pulse network. It houses equipment that receives, amplifies, splits, and transmits signals between your computer and the internet.

It also provides extensive backup systems and emergency generators to ensure that Pulse customers maintain internet and other services.

The installation of the hut is an intricate blend of precision and engineering.

Fiber huts must be located in secure, secluded, yet accessible sites free from disturbances like electromagnetic interference.

Don’t be fooled by their unassuming brown concrete exteriors – they are vital links in the global digital highway.

The hut will house a powerhouse of high-tech equipment – transceivers, network switches, cooling systems, and power supplies.

Pulse crews began boring and laying conduit for Timnath’s new fiber network in mid-2024. The network will next be connected through the hut, and soon after, to homes and businesses in Timnath!
